EH Pinsights - Wish

Completely out of my comfort zone here, folks! This card is for the current Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights Challenge:

Pin-Sights Color Trend September

I love the rich colours so I focused on that little mosaic looking piece and tried to recreate it with a snowflake stamp and some watercolours.

I started by stamping and embossing the snowflake in a pattern that would leave me some white space for my sentiment (and my sanity!). I then just put down watercolours, overlapping and blending them.

CASology 268 - Fortune

Here's my card for this week's CASology Cue Card, Fortune:

I was lucky enough to spend last Saturday with Kathy Racoosin on her Coloring Challenge Road Trip. She is so lovely and absolutely full of tips and knowledge. I tried to apply some of her tips to my Copic colouring here

  • pay attention to the 'nooks and crannies'
  • don't be afraid to use darker colours
  • use blending solution for texture
  • know when to walk away
Learning is a life-long thing and looking at this, I can see areas that I'm happy with and areas that need more work.  I am still experimenting with X-press-it - I'm finding it very easy to blend on.

I masked a number of different images from MFT's Party Like A Pirate to create this little scene.

FS555 - You Got This

Congratulations to this week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper: (aka ruby-heartedmom)

I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on:
-pink flower
-stamped repeated background

I changed:
-layout
-added a sentiment
-colour scheme

I find 'random' stamping difficult - I always want to line everything up in a row! But I gave it a shot! Colouring the petals with 3 shades of pink appears to add dimension to the flower. Here's a quick video:

MCV85 - Peace

Here's my card for the current Muse: ChristmasVisions challenge, where our Guest Muse, Stephanie has given us this gorgeous inspiration:

I focused on
-peace theme
-green and blue colour scheme
-layout (sentiment under focal image)
-stars (I created mine as water drops)

If you'll notice, my dove is in the sky and my peace is literally 'on earth'. LOL!

Here's a quick video showing how I made this very simple card:

Tag You're It #73 - Reminder

Good morning! I'm back with another tag for the current Tag You're It Challenge. I was inspired by this tag by Tracey:

I focused on Tracey's:
-colours - white pink purple and black
-partial image at the top left
-black hello
-fun bottom edge

I created a wreath of little flowers with Tilly's Magic Garden stamps and used a die cut sentiment. The tag, reinforcer and scalloped edge die are all from Tags, etc., which was part of the Counting Blessings Stamp of Approval collection. This collection is sold out but the individual products will be made available in the futre.

SugarPea Designs - Sweet2Repeat

Good morning! Here's my card for SugarPea's Sweet2Repeat Blog Hop, using products from the latest release! This is a chance for the designers to give you a little more inspiration, now that you've had a chance to get these products yourself!

I used some of the smaller images (isn't that turkey adorable!!) and a wonderful Thanksgiving sentiment from Indian Summer (as well as matching dies) along with the Zig Zag Stitched Rectangles. I stamped the leaves close together at the top and further apart as I moved down the card, to create a feeling of the leaves gently falling.

FS554 - Joy

Congratulations to this week's Splitcoaststampers Featured Stamper: Beth (aka) scrapbook4ever

I chose this card as my inspiration:

I focused on:
-ornament theme
-Joy theme
-red, yellow, blue

I changed
-stamping to blending
-no 'triple the fun' framing technique
-added green and black
-layout

I used daubers (more control in a small space) to blend distress ink through the masks I created. I put more ink on the left and bottom, to create dimension for my ornaments.

Muse 233 - Merry Christmas

Here's my card for this week's Muse Challenge, where Tracey has given us a modern, CAS Christmas inspiration:

I focused on Tracey's:
-green wreath with white embossing and red bow
-red mat
-layout

My card has a more 'classic' feel, but is otherwise very similar. I masked and blended the wreath and blended and spritzed my red mat - I love the bokeh effect the spritzing gives! Here's a quick video:

Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop

I'm playing along with the Fall Coffee Lovers Blog Hop today, using some of my favourite coffee-themed products from SugarPea Designs.

I started by cutting the cup, lid and sleeve and then blended distress ink on the sleeve. I stamped the circular sentiment and found a little pumpkin to fit inside. I coloured that with Copics and then cut the circle and popped it up on my lid.

I created a kraft panel and stamped the sentiment and pile of leaves using my MISTI. I then removed the kraft panel from my MISTI and stamped them again onto a post it note. Leaving the post it note in place, I positioned my cup so that I could stamp the leaves again with a portion of them on the cup.

I used:
-Coffee To Go Cup dies
-Caffeine Addict
-Fall Fox

Tag You're It #73 - Birthday Wishes

Good morning! I'm so excited that today, my good friend Tracey has invited me to be a Guest Designer at Tag You're It

Here's her beautiful inspiration, using one of my favourite SugarPea Designs Stamps (Mandala).

Well, of course, I just wanted to remake Tracey's gorgeous design, but that's not what this is all about, is it?

I focused on Tracey's:
-colours
-layout

Catherine Pooler Designs - Hello, Tilly's Magic Garden!

So excited by this new mini-release at Catherine Pooler Designs! There's a fantastic floral-layering set called Tilly's Magic Garden and a new Hello die.

Tilly's Magic Garden is full of different flowers and leaves and layering bits - you will have so much fun filling your garden.

And check out that magic sentiment! So true! I created two simple cards, each letting the sentiment take centre stage. I think if magic has a colour, it's acid green (made up of Lime Rickey and Melon Ice, of course!).

How do you like my Scalloped Square? I made it myself using the Scalloped Rectangle die from the recent Counting Blessings Stamp of Approval kit! It's so easy to line up and re-cut the one end. You could make smaller squares and rectangles, too, by lining it up at different levels - so versatile! Here's a quick video:

The Hello die is scripty and beautiful and the perfect size to be your focal point, or to be part of a bigger sentiment.

I'm linking this card up to The Card Concept:

AJVD - Sunflower

I'm on the A Jillian Vance Design Blog today with a video showing how I used a leaf and the back of the stamp to make this quick-colour sunflower!

MCV84 - Peace Love Joy

Here's my card for the current Muse: ChristmasVisions challenge where Kimberly brought us this glimmery, golden inspiration:

I focused on Kimberly's:
-gold central panel
-sentiment

I stamped the star panel twice - once at the top of the white panel and once at the bottom, to create a starry-at-both-ends block of gold. I cut my sentiments and popped them up before adding a light coating of glitter glue.
