MM233 - Love, Hope & Joy

For this week's Merry Monday challenge:

The challenge is to use 5 of something on a card. I chose snowflakes and colours (not counting the black sentiment!). I used two shades of ink on each snowflake. Spacing was tricky - it took me at least 5 attempts to finish this card - I finally decided to use a die-cut  5-pointed star in the centre to help make them even. I removed it before adding the sentiment.

I used:
-Simon Says Stamp Lots of Snowflakes
-Simon Says Stamp Big Scripty Greetings
-MFT Silver Sparkle Cardstock
-GinaK ink

SSSWC, ATSM226 - You Brighten My World

This new die arrived at my house on Friday. I knew exactly what I wanted to do with it! I started with a white square panel and cut the heart out from the corner. I cut the heart again in black for our my outline. I coloured 6 petals with copics and inlaid them into the heart. Finally, I finished with an old sentiment and a tiny gem for the flower centre.

A very sweet, CAS, graphic valentine for my daughter!

I'm linking up to 2 Anything Goes challenges - One at Simon Says Stamp's Wednesday Challenge and the other at Addicted to Stamps and More.

Watercolour Flowers

The other day, my new Prima Marketing Watercolor Confections arrived (got them in MFT's sale just before Christmas). I decided to try creating some freehand flowers, rather than just colouring stamped images. These flowers used 5 colours - a pink, yellow, two greens and black. I learned a bit about layering, blending, hard and soft edges. I applied Dawn Woleslagle's (from WPlus9) advice that if you put a centre in a blob of colour, it will look like a flower.  Definitely want/need some more practice but I really enjoyed this first start.

MFTWSC314 - Happy Birthday

So it's that time of year in my family, when many of the boys and men have birthdays, creating a need for masculine cards. This one is for my dad and I used the current MFT Wednesday Sketch as my inspiration:

This is one of my favourite Happy Birthdays - its font is strong and graphic and perfect for masculine cards. I added some MFT Red Hot stars for a little celebration.

I used:
-MFT Delicious Birthday
-MFT You Move Me

ETA - the more I looked at this card, the less happy I got. So I did a do-over!

I changed to a square, changed the shade of red (garnet is January's birthstone). Lost a happy - and yet I am happier! lol!

CASology 230, TO74 - Cold

I feel a little strange today. For the first time ever, I am posting to CASology as a player, not a member of the DT! This week's Cue Card is Cold.

And the theme at Time Out Challenges is Winter, so I'll link up there as well.

I used my newest snowflake set and an older sentiment along with some cool MFT ink colours to make a frosty thank you card. To make the card even 'cooler', I re-stamped everything (using my MISTI, of course!) with Versamark and embossed with iridescent embossing powder. Capturing the sparkle was clearly beyond my skills as a photographer! lol!

I used:
-Simon Says Stamp Frozen Fractals
-Mama Elephant Pix's Favorite
