OLW151 - Speechless

Now, I've been called a lot of things over the years. Speechless ain't one of them.  Quite the opposite, in fact! (I know, you're shocked!)

So this week, I'm hosting a nice, QUIET One Layer Wednesday challenge. Speechless even. No sentiments allowed.

You can make an all occasion card, or you can be a smart-alec like me and make a sentiment out of images (above) or you can make a card that is clearly for a particular occasion (like the birthday card below).

OLW151 Speechless Rules:

1.  Create a one layer card. This is defined as a single layer of cardstock folded in half. No other layers allowed.

2.  Create a card that has no sentiment. Remember to keep embellishments to a minimum and no additional layers of cardstock.

3.  Post your card online and link it to the InLinkz button in the sidebar to the right. If you link to your blog, please link to the specific post, not your blog's main page. Deadline is next Tuesday at midnight (EDT).

4.  Have Fun!!  I am looking forward to seeing all your peaceful, speechless cards!

Supplies:
Recollections Bee, The Stamps of Life Happy Face (Faces4Stamps)
Paper Smooches Candle and Little Circle (Sugar Rush), Shadow (Shadows)

CTS38 - Thanks!

I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't played along with CAS(E) This Sketch since I left the DT a few months ago. I made the promise to keep playing along at the time, but then time got away from me. As it does.

And I've seen sketch after fun sketch go by. But today (almost at the  last minute), I saw an entry for this week's challenge and an idea came to me. It wasn't this idea, but it got me started! lol! Here's the sketch:

I drew lines on the white panel so that my little sketchy circles would be easy to line up. I used Harold's Alphabet (LawnFawn) for the sentiment and the confetti was made using the period from the same alphabet.

CASology 55 - Camp

This week's CASology Cue Card is CAMP!

Let me start by saying that I do not camp. Ever. I am an indoor, electricity, running-water kind of a girl. Toilets, air conditioning and hair dryers are constitutional rights, aren't they?

But if I did camp, this card shows what I think my favourite part would be - the beautiful views and sunsets. From a distance! lol!

For the sun, sand and water, I used various stamps from Hero Arts Brush Strokes set. They're so versatile and can be used to create lots of other things. Or use them on their own for an abstract look. The trees are from Closer to My Heart's Journey set.

And now it's your turn - I can't wait to see what you'll come up with!

Here are links to the blogs of the other DT members - drop by and see what they've got for you!

Welcome, Baby Bryna!

Congratulations to CASology's founder, Melissa and her family - little baby Bryna Kate has arrived! She was born yesterday and we're all so excited!

We're having a baby shower at CASology and you can join in! Link up your card any time in the next three weeks.

This lucky little girl has 3 big brothers and I wanted to include them in my card - I'm sure it will be a big adjustment for them having a little girl in the house!

I used 3 old Lizzie Anne Designs boys and a Stampin' Up baby that had a similar feel. My favourite Hero Arts baby sentiment, with an appropriate Paper Smooches addition.

I split the mat to reflect the two main colours - this is an easy way to add interest and a little more colour to your cards!

And if you would like Melissa's mailing address, please email me or any member of the DT and we'll get it to you!

Pinterest Inspired Thanks - Black and White

Here's my second Pinterest-inspired thanks from yesterday's crafting session.

Shoesme store by Teun Fleskens, Tilburg

I used a 7/8 inch punch to cut the circles. To imitate the dimension from the photo, they're double thickness, as is the black strip of cardstock. Same old Inkadinkado sentiment.

Pinterest Inspired Thanks!

I had some time this afternoon and made a couple of thank you cards based on some photos I found on Pinterest:

The Design Blog

This is the first one - simple gray and white with a bold pop of lime green (Doodlebug Sugar Coating in Lime Green - what a mess - I'll be finding it in my clothes for days, I'm sure!)

The next one is for tomorrow's post - we'll be getting Struan ready and dropping him off for his 3 week Air Cadet camp at one of the Canadian Forces Bases nearby.

FFC13 -Pink, White and Silver

I'm back with another card for the current Festive Friday Colour Challenge - Pink White and Silver

This time I ramped up the intensity on the pink and went with raspberry. It gives a completely different look, doesn't it? I used stamps from Unity and coloured in the open bits of the snowflake with copics and Stickles.

You've got until Wednesday to link up - I hope you'll play along!

OLW150 - Life's A Beach

One Layer Wednesday is being hosted by Karen this week. The challenge is to make a card with a Beachy theme. This card is a case of CASing myself. A while ago, I made this card for Muse and OLW:

I thought at the time that it looked like a sun over the ocean, so I expanded on that idea and made a whole sunny day (at least a day from noon to sunset!).

I used Coastal Cabana and Summer Sun this time, along with River Rock for the sentiment.

Muse 27 - Thanks!

Here's my take on this week's Muse by Guest Designer Tracey McNeely:

I focused on the colours and how the flowers 'hug' the sentiment. I used my Grand Calibur circle nestabilities to create my graphic cuves, and the sentiment is my trusty old Inkadinkado 'thanks'.

I have to say that there are so many things I love about running Muse. Getting to know the Design Team members (Laurie Willison, Marion Vagg and Therese Calvird) as well as lining up the Guest Designers each month. Getting to know participants when I visit all your blogs and when I mess up the voting and get LOTS of (kind and forgiving) emails from you! lol!  And when I look back at the cards I've made each week, I love how the Muses have taken me in so many different directions! Some of my favourite cards were made for this challenge - and you have to love a challenge that brings out the best in you, right?

I hope you'll play along this week (deadline is Monday at 8:00 am EDT) - but even if you can't, don't forget to vote for your favourite 3 designs starting Monday at 8:00 am until Tuesday at 8:00 am!

CASology 54 - Gold!

This week's CASology Cue Card is Gold!

I was inspired by this photo I found on Pinterest.

Honor
I love the contrast of the every-day brown paper lunch bag and the elegant gold foil.  I also love how the foil is so thin that it seems like it's almost part of the bag itself. I tried to get the same effect by cutting my Memory Box Parker lower case letters out of the scraps around some gold seals (the kind you might use on wedding invitations). It's a little less dimensional than embossing, but still clearly a layer on top of the card.

And now it's your turn. Link up before the deadline on Sunday at 4:00 pm CST  - but don't forget to check out the inspiration the rest of the DT has for you!

CASE Study 150 - Take two. Or is that three?

Another one for this week's gorgeous CASE Study.

This time I kept the scale the same as the inspiration, but made it a little lighter and airier by using outline shapes from The Stamps of Life. I also managed to get the many-pointed star in the centre, which I filled with a sentiment also from The Stamps of Life.

I think in the end, I voted with most of you on my favourite from yesterday - the sketchy circles just added something to that very simple design.

And now it's time for me to get on with some of the organization/tidy up projects that have sat on my list for months, waiting for the summer (which is zooming by, don't you think?)

See you here tomorrow for CASology!

CASE Study 150 - Thank you

CASE Study is another challenge I haven't played along with for a long time. But this week's card by the talented Jocelyn Olson  is just begging to be cased, don't you think?

So I made two. And now I can't decide which one I like better!

RIC#40 - Thank you!

Wow, it's been a LONG time since I've played with Runway Inspired Challenge, but this light and airy outfit by Stella McCartney really spoke to me (as did the wonderful interpretations by the DT members!)

Very simple one layer card using Technique Tuesday's Incredible set and some tiny gold bling.

ETA (July 30) - Woohoo! This card won! Wow!

I'm Queen of Couture! So cool! Thanks to the team at Runway Inspired Challenge for this!

FFC13 - Peace and Joy

This is my second post today. Please scroll down to see my Muse card.

There's a new challenge at Festive Friday! It's a colour challenge:

Light pink is not a colour I work with a lot, but I can see that it's so pretty when you combine it with silver and white.

I used my brand-spankin' new Memory Box tree die and cut it in brushed silver cardstock. Then I cut parts of it (using my scissors to fully cut out each tree) in Silver Glimmer and pink glitter cardstock, layerin them on. I finished with this little stamp (is it Hero Arts?)

I hope you'll play along with us! The DT has provided lots of inspiration (and we've got Laura Bassen as Guest Designer on this one!)

Muse #26, CASology 53 - Like, totally cool!

I knew when I saw Marion's card for this week's Muse challenge, that I would end up using those eyes. I know there's lots of other detail on this card, but the eyes are what captured my attention.

I wanted to use the eyes, but not AS eyes, if you know what I mean. Fortunately, the perfect solution is running as a challenge at CASology this week. The cue card is COOL and what better way to use the eyes not as eyes than to use them as o's. Follow? lol!

I used Memory Box's Large Parker Lower Case dies, Papertrey Super Stripes stamp set and Technique Tuesday Incredible Stamp set.

You have until Sunday at 4:00 pm CST to play with CASology, and you have until Monday morning at 8:00 EDT to play with Muse - I hope you'll join us!

OLW149 - Closet Inspiration!

I went hunting through my closet for inspiration for this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge to be inspired by something in your closet (hosted by Heather). I found this blouse:

I used Avery Elle's Diamonds set to create the pattern and a Stampin' Up sentiment. I added the little pearls to represent the buttons, but in retrospect, I think I may have liked it better without them.

Hope you'll get a chance to play along!

ABNH - Colouring with Stickles

Many of you who know me, know that I LOVE Stickles glitter glue. They come in all sorts of colours, they're easy to work with and they don't leave the mess that loose glitter does.

A Blog Named Hero

Today at A Blog Named Hero, my post is all about colouring with Stickles. I hope you'll drop by!

And don't forget to play along with our current challenge:

There's a $25 gift voucher to Simon Says Stamp for one lucky participant!
