MUSE2 - Fabulous!

This week, our Muse is Suzanne Dahlberg and her amazing card:

I focused on the beautiful bright colours, the black sentiment and hearts, the overlapping circles across the centre and the rounded top corners.

You may be interested to know that as I was stamping (and restamping) this, I changed back to my old fabric Stampin' Up inkpads. Ever since I've started having to reink the new ones (I've even watched the videos about how to do it), I've been unhappy with the coverage - and when you're stamping a pattern like this, there is no place for a badly stamped circle! I'd love to hear your thoughts on this topic - I find the fun goes out of it when I can't count on my tools working.

  1. Fab card Ardyth - how many attempts did it take to do that perfect stamping?! I know what you mean when things don't work as they're meant to...so frustrating!

  3. I'm not happy with the new inks either...haven't heard anyone that really loves any ink company though so I'm interested in feedback! Your card is amazing!

  4. Love this pattern with overlapping colors. I haven't bought any new SU inks. I was gonna, but maybe not now. I really like my old ones but some colors are discontinued. I hope they fix this issue. That's a bummer that they aren't working right!

  5. Super fun CAS take on Suzanne's card Ardyth! Your rows of circles look GREAT!

I don't own any Stampin' Up inks, so I won't be of any help to you with your ink issue. I hope they resolve the problem for their customers.

  8. This card is so great - I think the simplest cards are the most finicky to create because any little mistake is in the spotlight. I have some of the new ink pads and find them okay - I haven't had to re-ink yet, so now I am a little worried. I do find you have to have a very light touch.

  9. Love your CAS take on the card...love the circles. I too only own the older inks but feel your pain. I never do well with a solid stamp. Not sure if it is my technique or that I want it perfect and it can't be or the tools I am using but I tend to stay away from them.
    Have a great day.

  12. I love your card! What a really neat interpretation of the muse card! Very creative! I to am not thrilled with the new SU ink pads. I find that they work okay with SU stamps, but they don't work well at all with my acrylic stamps. The seem to fill up all the little spaces with ink and just stamp a mess. Also the ink reacts strangely with the whisper white cardstock. Seems to change colors after it dries and leaves the stamped image raised a bit. I've gone back to my older pad too :(

  14. Just super! Love your overlapping circles and bold sentiment.

I've got the new SU ink pads - not had to re-ink any as yet - I find they give really good coverage, sometimes too much ink for me! I'll see what happens once I've had to re ink!

  15. So I saw this, and immediately thought there is no way this is a grouping of stamps (like the PTI background circles set that I just used on one of the Nerds valentines boxes in a similar fashion), she is so crazy she used one, solitary circle. Amazing, really!

And I will give you a big "amen, sister" on tools not working as they should. I have discovered with all the box-making that my MS scoring board is NOT square! Argghh! Can you imagine how frustrating that was, knowing I was going to have to manually fix a slightly tapered box each time? And, my Silhouette is not cutting straight lines either. Very inconsistent. Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

Anyway, super-love your card! (and glad you only did two rows!)

  18. Oooh ... perfect CAS interpretation of the muse card ... love the colours and am amazed by the precision stamping! Kim S also mentioned the SU inks ... I'm looking to get some coloured inks (don't have any yet!) so I guess it'd be a good idea to revisit the shortlist! Thanks for the tip! Anita :)

  19. Let's hear it for CAS! That is one busy muse card. Amazingly, the first thing on the muse card that caught my eye were those overlapping circles... border punch? individual vellum circles? border sticker?

  20. Ardyth! This is an amazing CAS take on my card, and those circles certainly are perfect! Thanks for finding inspiration in my card, and in those circles on that strip - love it! And thanks for the info on those inkpads. :)

  22. SUCH perfect overlapping! I love this, Ardyth! Fabulous sentiment too ;)
As for the ink pads, I don't have those, but I can share your frustration with tools you can't count on! Hope you find a solution!
