FS525 - Christmas Joy

This week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper is Karen (aka Redbugdriver). I actually chose two inspiration cards from her gallery. Here's the first:

I focused on Karen's:
-starburst
-Joy theme on a slant
-red, green and gold colours

I changed:
-colours
-technique
-shape of the card

I cut the starburst out of a white panel and then partially cut it several times, using different colours of red, pink, gold, green and turquoise glitter cardstock to create the dots. I then inlaid the different colours in a random order.

I used:
-Memory Box Starburst Die
-Essentials By Ellen Holiday Words die
-Essentials by Ellen Scribble Christmas

Here's the inspiration for my second card:

I focused on:
-3 pieces of winter greenery
-Joy sentiment
-red, white and black

I changed:
-orientation
-left out green
-didn't separate the 3 images in separate panels

I used:
-Essentials by Ellen Scribble Christmas
-Essentials by Ellen Holiday Word die

TO77 - Happy Birthday

Here's a fun card for the current Time Out Challenge, where we are inspired by this photo:

I love the whimsy of this photo. There's a lot going on and so many ways to be inspired, but since Stamplorations is the sponsor I knew exactly which stamp set I wanted to use. This 'party house' idea is one I've seen before, but it was so fun to use the silly colours of one of the houses in the photo to capture a similar feeling. I coloured the rest of the neighbourhood with tones of grey.

I focused on the:
-row of houses
-blue sky, green ground
-balloons

I used:
-Stamplorations Houses
-WPlus9 Friend for all Seasons (Fall) and matching dies

Muse Challenge #204 - Happy Mother's Day

Here's the card I made for this week's Muse Challenge, inspired by Jenni's pretty card:

I focused on Jenni's:
-Mother's Day theme
-floral element
-die cut

This is a big year for me (birthday-wise) and I set myself a number of goals. One of them was to expand my skills and try and make some videos. It's a BIG goal with lots to learn and lots of equipment requirements and I'm trying to go step by step. So today, I'm very excited to tell you that I posted a short video on my Instagram account to show my technique for stamping these flowers using watercolour paper that has been spritzed with water and various distress inks, and my MISTI.

I used:
-WPlus9 Watercolored Anemones
-WPlus9 Happy Trio die
-Simon Says Stamp Best Mom Ever

MM236 - Stockings

Here's my card for this week's Merry Monday Challenge, to use stockings:

This is a type of card I don't make very often - lots of masking and colouring. But I just recently got this adorable elf set and it was perfect for this challenge! This was good for some Copic practice, especially my reds and greens. I added some sparkle to his hat, bell and the presents with Stickles.

I used:
-MFT Stamps Santa's Elves
-Copics

ETA: This card was a winner!

Pin Sights - Love You More

I'm back with another card for the current Ellen Hutson Pin-Sights Challenge:

58fc33a4b2196b3d687ab65298a29cb9

I used a similar background to yesterday's card. I sponged only the edges of the panel, and the white centre creates this neat glow-effect. It made me think of the water and translucent bottles in the mood board for this challenge. I used several different distress inks - Tumbled Glass, Salty Ocean, Cracked Pistachio and Twisted Citron.

I used:
-Essentials by Ellen Love You So

FS524 - Unsentimental Peony

This week's Splitcoaststampers' Featured Stamper is Beverly Sue Wilson. I chose this card from her gallery as my inspiration:

I focused on Beverly Sue's:
-large flower
-colours

I changed:
-no black
-no sentiment

I sponged a panel with Crushed Olive, Peeled Paint and Mowed Lawn, keeping the darker colours to the edges of the panel to create the 'glow'. I spritzed with water for some texture.

I stamped and embossed the flower before watercolouring it with Worn Lipstick, Picked Raspberry, Mustard Seed and Candied Apple. I used a coordinating die to cut it out and then I popped it up on the green panel.

I used:
-Essentials by Ellen Mondo Peony

Happy Birthday, Joy!

Yes, the SugarPea Designs release is live now and you can go buy all the goodies we've been showing you all week! I used Chunky Monkey to make this card for my niece's first birthday. Her name is Joy.

I love how this little monkey's balloon becomes the 'o' in Joy. She's popped up on a wobbler for more fun and action. I also used WaffleFlower's Cutaway Alpha. I used all neutrals so that the balloon and present would pop.

Pin-Sights - Super Lucky

Please scroll down for my SugarPea Designs SweetPeeks Day 5 post!

This month's Pin-Sights challenge at Ellen Hutson is based on my favourite colour!

58fc33a4b2196b3d687ab65298a29cb9

I focused on the photo of the two ice creams with the grey ombre background.

I started with a watercolour panel and painted a simple wash, starting with a brush full of Hickory Smoke distress ink, letting it fade out as I moved my brush to the bottom. I set that aside to dry.

Then I stamped and embossed my flower a few times on another panel. I watercoloured with Tumbled Glass, Broken China, Cracked Pistachio and Faded Jeans. Once they were dry, I cut them out with matching dies. I inlaid one and popped up the other. before stamping my sentiment in black to represent the basket.

I used:
-Essentials by Ellen Bohemian Garden
-Essentials by Ellen Up the Happy

SugarPea Designs Sweet Peeks Day 5

Welcome to the final day of the SugarPea February 2017 Product Release!  Tonight at 6PM EST you will finally be able to purchase all the amazing products that we've shown you this week!

But first, a final look at some inspiration from the team!

You are here:  Ardyth Percy-Robb

Would you like to win the Striped Background stamp set? All you need to do is leave a comment on today's SugarPea Designs post telling us what is your current favorite stamping technique? We can't wait to hear!

Card 1 - I stamped the images from StoryBook Circus in grey to create a subtle background for our adorable Ringmaster. I backed her onto the stitched oval from Popcorn Treat Box and matted the card with dies from Birthday Journal card before a piece of patterned paper from Carnival Paper Pad.

Card 2 - I can't get enough of these monkeys! They are adorable and I used them to create a one-layer card here. I masked the monkey to repeat just the balloon a few times.

Card 3 - A quick and easy (but totally fun!) birthday card - I cut a silhouette using CarnivalScape and then created some 'ribbons' from strips of paper from Carnival Paper Pad and stapled them along with a sentiment from What's Poppin'.

Muse 203 - Hi!

please scroll down for my SugarPea Designs Sweet Peeks post.

Hi! Here's my card for this week's Muse challenge, where Tracey has given us this happy get-well card as our inspiration:

I focused on Tracey's:
-rainbow colour combination
-partial watercolouring of each image

I love the 'cartoon' feel of these bright flowers and felt that a casual greeting would go well with them.

I used:
-Neat&Tangled Scandinavian Prints
-Memory Box Parker Alphabet dies
-Zig Cleancolor Real Brush Markers

SugarPea Designs Sweet Peeks Day 4

Today is Day 4 of SugarPea Designs' February 2017 Product Release!

links will be live when the products are released on Friday, February 17 at 6 pm

Would you like to win the What's Poppin'? stamp set? Just leave a comment on today's SugarPea post telling us about your favourite fair or carnival treat!

Card 1: I used just one side of the Popcorn Treat Box, flat on my card. I cut it out of the red and white striped patterned from the Carnival Paper Pack. Then I cut and 'buttered' lots of popcorn (with Lemonade Distress Ink and Stickles) and popped them up all over my card for lots of movement and energy.

Card 2: I wanted a pop of colour, so I used Copics to colour the girl in greys, and a bright red for the popcorn box and her bow. I grounded her with another piece of paper from the Carnival Paper Pack. I cut up the sentiment for some more popping movement!

IB43 - Hi, there!

Scroll down for my SugarPea Designs' Sweet Peeks Day 3 post.

I made a simple card for this week's Inspired by All the Little Things. There is a lot going on in the inspiration photo:

My card didn't start out simple. First, I got out my watercolours, my patterned paper, my silver mirror card and made a very elaborate card. It just wasn't me. So I went back and focused on the two things I noticed first in the photo - the pink flowers and the circular mirror.  I sponged a pale gray circle to ground my bouquet of flowers.

I used:
-Essentials by Ellen Bear Ware
-Essentials by Ellen All Inside

SugarPea Designs Sweet Peeks Day 3

Today is Day 3 of SugarPea Designs' February 2017 Product Release!

Today we're showing Starburst Cover Plate and Stay Strong stamp set and Sugar Cut.

links will be live when the products are released on Friday, February 17 at 6 pm

Card 1: I wanted to see how the Starburst Cover Plate would work on a square card, and it did great! I cut it twice, coloured one with distress inks and then inlaid the rays into the white cut. I cut a stitched circle from Beautiful Bauble as my mat for my lion and sentiment from StoryBook Circus.

Card 2: I wanted to make this guy a really big deal, so I gave him another barbell and stood him up on an image from StoryBook Circus. I used paper from the Carnival Paper Pad to really make this card pop!

SugarPea Designs Sweet Peeks Day 2

Today is Day 2 of SugarPea Designs' February 2017 Product Release and I'm back with (I admit it) my favourite set from this release.

Today we have the cutest little monkeys in town! Introducing Chunky Monkey!

links will be live when the products are released on Friday, February 17 at 6 pm

Card 1 - Monkey Love! This monkey couple is having a romantic moment. I put a little banana in one monkey's hand as a gift for his girlfriend. Of course the heart over their heads had to be banana-coloured!

Card 2 - It was so fun to build this little scene of a monkey going bananas on his birthday! I love how his friends are pointing up at him, a little worried at his monkeying around!

Would you like to win the Chunky Monkey stamp set? Just leave a comment on today's SugarPea post telling us about what makes you go bananas (in a good way)!

Card 2 lets the fun new papers do most of the work. Again, a sentiment from Storybook Circus and an adorable juggling bear from the same set.
