FFC03 - Snowflake Surprise!

The current Festive Friday challenge is an element challenge: Snowflake.

Meredith told me that this is an actual photograph of a snowflake taken in about 1900. I love how silvery and frosty it looks!

Snowflakes are one of my all time favourite elements. I wanted to make something very clean and simple, but special, too! I've seen a lot of little wooden embellishments out there these days, and I love the sturdy dimension they give to a card, so I decided to create one of my own, with a slight difference.

I cut 7 of my new Hero Arts Fancy Snowflakes, 6 in rainbow colours and 1 white. I stacked them carefully on top of each other to create one thick, multicoloured snowflake sandwich. I didn't worry if the layers weren't exactly perfectly together - I figured a little bit of colour peeking out would draw in the recipient of the card, to see what I did - here's a close up:

I'll be really happy if I don't see any more (real) snowflakes until well, ever. But at least until next Christmas. In the meantime, I'm happy to make them into cards all year long!

ETA (March 18) - WOW! This card won the challenge! I'm so thrilled and honoured!

  2. BOLD and simple and delicate. Love how you can achieve this all at once. GREAT card!

I just purchased my Bigshot in Oct, so I am such a newbie.

Inspires me to look at large die cuts.

    Have a great day!
