OLW97 - Line up!

A quick post for a quick card. I was cruising through my stamps with no idea what to do for this week's One Layer Wednesday challenge to use lines. I found this 'bravo' and my brain clicked to lines of a music staff. No it didn't hurt. Much.

I think this card took me 10 seconds to stamp, but I'm happy with it. It has a very clear message, which I hope is 'well done, you!'. But, being a piano player, most music stamps bug me - where's the clef? the time signature? the bar lines? I also try to play the music in my mind, to find out if it's 'real' or not (mostly not).  So maybe the message is 'I hope you're not a musician, catching me out with a "fake music" stamp!"

Or maybe I'm over thinking? Who, me??

  1. Very cool card Ardyth; it is visually striking even if it is musically frustrating. Living in a house of musicians I am careful to check the fakeness of my music designs. My girls usually read the music on the stamps to see if they recognise the tune.

  4. Wish that I did know the difference between the bar line and a clef!!! You have turned a simple stamp into a card with a ton of visual impact! Love it!

  5. Love the card even with a "fake" stamp. I fear copyright laws prohibit using actual music.

  8. Great card! Love this design, and in this case, the "fake" music works beautifully.

Ardyth, you are definitely not overthinking the music stamps. How hard is it to write the notes with their stems on the correct side, get the same number of beats in each bar, and make the music (even if it is not a "real" tune) sound like something musical? Adding a clef and a time signature would just be the icing on the cake, LOL!

  11. I have this stamp and have used it dozens of times, EVERY time wondering which is the front end and which the rear, the up and the down, yes VERY frustrating, but the size of it is better, for what I use it for, than any of my other music stamps.

To use it alone like that is just genius. I think I must have connected "complicated" with "good card", because "quick and simple " seems like cheating. But not when YOU do it! i love that card.
