Retrosketch 16 - N@ Ali

OK, this was HARD! But N@ and I started blogging and following each other at about the same time and I just LOVE her uber-cool style, so I felt I had to at least give Retrosketch #16 a good try!

N@'s original card used the colours of the rainbow, so I went with that (the one thing I felt comfortable with!) I just kept opening up my stamps and seeing if I could find something that would fit into this design. One of my favourite elements on N@'s card is the piece of cardstock wound with twine or thread. Such a clever way to add interest and texture. I tried to echo that with my big bolt stamp.

One thing I'm noticing here (having used mostly new SU! inkpads) is a certain 'graininess' to the ink coverage. Not sure about that. Have you had similar experience? Could it be the outrageous heat? (Apparently today (Wednesday) it's hotter here in Toronto than in Honolulu!)

ETA - I got a Retrosketches Shout Out for this one!

You're on a roll today & no mistake! I love the way all the stamps fit together - please tell me this didn't happen right first time? And as for the cookies - that's just plain showing off!! Fab stuff. Jenny

Wow! Love the colors you chose. Did this really work out the first try? If so, a bigger WOW! Love it!This would be a great way to make use of stamps that I rarely reach for.

Just this morning I contemplated joining in the Kitchen OLW. Then I wondered where people find all these challenges like this Retro one. Then I saw the sketch for this card and realized I'm still in cardmaking-kindergarten..........I would have figured this sketch surely must be a joke!

That you got that many different stamps to make clean images seems a miracle in itself. The graininess is wonderful, at least for this card. My Stampin' Up whisper white is grainey, but I don't have any of the in-colors so am no help.

We had a hot one here, too--both Wednesday and Thursday!! Your take on this sketch is amazing, Ardyth! All of those colors are SO pretty, and you used just the right amount of white space, too. :)

SUPER take on this week's RetroSketch Ardyth! LOVE that it's a one layer card yet has so much interest with the bright colors and cool shapes. The eye flows from one element to next with ease.

Now, see, I never even thought about using images and keeping this wild sketch to one layer. So, it killed me to go to that many layers in my head, so I just let this one go. I want some of what's in your head. I have room in mine.
