Runway Inspired Challenge #5

I have to be honest. When I saw this week's inspiration piece:

I thought it was, well, a bit dull. I mean it's very pretty as an outfit, but as card inspiration? Where's the pop of colour?

Normally when I'm struggling, I try to break the challenge piece down into its components, but this time all I got was blue, squares and pleats (or are those gathers - I'm so not a sewer).

Laura had already done the obvious thing (and extremely effectively, I might add!) with the squares from the top - and pleats (or gathers) are certainly beyond my capabilities as a card maker, so what was left?

I looked at some of the other design team entries on the RIC website. And I decided that I would not use bashful blue (never been my favourite anyway). I thought I would go with bordering blue instead - it's a pretty grey-blue.

As I have done previously when in a desert of inspiration, I pulled out my trusty ridescent embossing powder. I embossed a checkerboard background onto a vellum scrap to reflect the squares on the sheer blouse. I added the silver embossed sentiment because I think her belt is silver. I could be wrong, but please don't tell me.

I'm happy with how it turned out:

Within about 20 minutes, I went from desert to oasis! What could be better than that?

Supplies:
Stamps: Waltzingmouse Stamps (Off beat Backgrounds),  ? (Thanks)
Paper: Bordering Blue, Vellum Cardstock, Gina K Pure Luxury 120 lb
Ink: Versamark
Accessories: Iridescent embossing powder (Old Island Stamp Co), Silver embossing powder (Papertrey)
